USS Marie Curie NCC-55985
This blog is set around the fictional starship, the USS Marie Curie NCC-55985.
This is a Starfleet Federation Hospital ship, being one of the latest in the fleet and a Nobel Research Science vessel outfitted for medical duties as well as scientific research.
The forward "sphere" section of the ship has been designed as a fully functioning hospital complete with its own laboratories. It is able to conduct extensive research as necessary. It is also capable of detaching in times of emergency allowing the main body of the ship to carry out other, vital, duties. She also carries a small tactical contingent along with security, in times of entering potentially dangerous sectors.
The Nobel-class was designed to ensure the separation of the Sphere Section, allowing it to serve as an immobile support base. The complex engineering and science that went into supporting this process has the added benefit of outfitting the ship with additional redundancies and subsystems, making it an extremely versatile and an often surprising addition to the Federation's fleets. In essence, the sphere can become its own space station when necessary.
